Plug and Play Article – 9 Smart Cities Startups That Are Reshaping Cities
“Imagine is one of 9 Smart Cities Startups That Are Reshaping Cities As We Know Them”
Today, 55% of the world’s total population live in cities and that percentage is expected to reach 70% by 2050. That means that urban areas will have no choice but to grow during the next decades. These future cities will be crowded, that’s for sure. But, hopefully, they will also be smart. A smart city is a city that uses technology to improve its citizens’ lives. Imagine is using data analytics of structural health and building usage to benefit real estate and facility management, retailers, aged people and their families and helpers, hotels and venue owners and office facility managers by using Imagine’s graphene enabled sensing surfaces and technology platform. Imagine produces graphene coatings for textiles in its plant in Geelong, Victoria, and develops the electronics specifications for hardware, and the software and algorithms, in its operation in Salo, Finland. This interview on the Plug and Play Tech Center website explains some of the trends that are emerging in smart cities and who is at the forefront of that development.
Phil Aitchison pitched at Plug and Play’s Smart Cities Asia launch event on 16th September. Imagine has previously participated in the Smart Cities Paris event earlier this year, Startup Autobahn and Spring Summit in 2018. Plug and Play Tech Center runs over 50 industry accelerator programs a year and is a major corporate innovation platform with over 300 partners and 200 venture capitalists in its ecosystem.
